In Reading, we continued reading Non-Fiction books and learning about Non-Fiction Text Features. This week students learned how to:
- Read fluently with proper stress and intonation.
- Ask and answer non-fiction questions.
In Word Study, we learned that vowels in words ending in ild, old, ind, olt and ost will make the long sound. We also learned that when "y" is found at the end of a one syllable word it will make the long "e" sound. The new heart words both, four and fourth were introduced. Please practice the following this week:
In Math, we learned how to (1) read and write comparisons using <,>, or =, (2 ) how to to compare and order numbers based on the value of the tens and ones digits, and (3) how to understand that a two-digit number can be represented in different ways using tens and ones.
In Science, we had a STEAM lesson on Parent and Offspring. We built and coded a spinning game where we matched animal parents to their offspring.
We also continued to notice that parents and offspring are similar, but not exactly the same. Students took a formative assessment to demonstrate their understanding of Bend 2.
